Remember my Summer 70s lookbook? This is one of the outfits that featured, and also the outfit that I wore to the In The Style summer party last month at The Drury Club. A jumpsuit is such a trans-seasonal piece and given London's current weather, trans-seasonal is needed right now!
I wouldn't usually go for a white garment, purely because i'm the kind of person to accidentally smother myself in BBQ sauce but sometimes, white just gives an outfit a little more of an evening wear feel and can be dressed up or down accordingly (think darker tones paired with for a toned-down look, and brighter colours for the summer months).

Slobbing out. Don't deny it, we all love to do it - and for once, it's my first weekend ever to do so and what better way than this Minkpink based outfit to stroll around Ikea and chill in bed with the Suits boxset with your best friend? For slob style appropriate for leaving the house - throw on some smart boots or heavy accessories for a purposeful look!

Peachy Keen - Problems with living in London

Hat - Boohoo (similar here)

Shoes - Public Desire

Apologies for what has been the desert ground formally known as The Fashion Wonderland and all connected social channels - i've been moving! When I say moving, I see you all imagining somebody moving from home to home, simple as in a moving van - but my reality was the furthest possible from that and involved a 10-hour long move to and from homes 10 minutes from the other in a tiny Clio. Glam.
If you live in London, you'll probably be aware of how much of a pain it is residing here, and i'm not just talking about the sky high rent....

1. Tenancy dates never matching up and being temporarily homeless between contracts (my current issue....) - and you know, super awkward tenants who just. won't. move. when they're supposed to...

2. Living with strangers and the constant domestic spats that come with that (because leaving a teaspoon in the sink for 30 seconds is the biggest housemate crime you could ever commit). It wouldn't be a house share without the politics that come with it now, would it?

3. Living with strangers who don't like Taylor Swift - because come on what is wrong with you she is an angel.

4. Paying £600 a month minus bills for a room with mould problems that resemble Old Greg from The Mighty Boosh's appearance.

5. Gaining all the weight because you have 5 local Dominos and who needs the stress of grocery shopping when you're constantly living in temporary housing?

6. Contracts only lasting a year and having a new home every year.... (how am I supposed to Instagram with these generic rental-home magnolia walls that you landlords seem to opt-for?)

7. Never living anywhere convenient for work purposes because there are so many small towns in London you end up living in 5 different towns all in a 3 mile radius of the one you started in... Not forgetting how convenient it is that each of these towns in such a small radius have completely different transport links......... *detect sarcasm*

8. The pipe dream that is having a mortgage while all your old school friends from your middle-of-nowhere Northern hometown buy their first house *hey you guyz look at me throwing all my money away on rent and pizza i'm a grown up too*

9. Always having serious competition when it comes to available flats and taking anything remotely appropriate without proper consideration before that guy that viewed directly after you (awkward encounter and side eying) has time to slap down a deposit... Remember the episode of Friends where Ross and Rachel attempt to sweet talk the old dying lady for her apartment? Yep.

10. And last but not least. Landlords. Sometimes they're good. Sometimes they're awful. Who needs a hole in the ceiling that seeps with water fixing anyway?

Style Schizophrenia

When it comes to getting dressed, I consider my style kind of schizophrenic (if you don't mind in me saying that). I don't like to be the same person everyday, and while there's always the very 'Laura' element to my outfits, I never stick to one style. One day I want to be business-woman chic, the next I want to be a mermaid - there really is no in-between. I don't know who I wanted to be this day, but the cute combo of the 'ginger' (as my colleague described) suede skirt and blue crop was too cute to not test out.

I know what you're thinking... Why don't you just change your blog into a blog about how to wear suede? You're right, I may as well. But c'mon, how cute is this pinafore dress? Pinafores are a look i've acquired in recent months, along with dungarees. I find it such a simple day-to-day look that you can just throw on and go about your day as you do, but in a Brittany-Murphy-in-Uptown-Girls kinda way!

Workwear. It's back and i'm back into my tailored-obsessive ways. I know my style varies constantly, but one that I always go back to is a smart, tailored look because to me, nothing feels better than looking like a chic CEO (minus the obligatory Chanel that comes with being a chic CEO). Pairing subtle nods to current trends to your work wardrobe is a very simple way of updating your day-to-day office look - be it some fringing, fabric choices, or accessories, and keeping it black makes it easier to pull off for everyone.

It's a shame that August weather this year is only worthy of a roll neck sweater, but it's London after all. Summer, I have loved you, but after the A/W previews and training sessions at work on new season styling, i'm ready to reintroduce knits and cosy blankets into my life. I still have a few Summer events coming up that i'll be 'participating' in Summer fashion for, but other than that, you'll find me from now on trailing the stores for cashmere and chunky knits...
