The Witching Hour

October is one of my favourite months of the year. The leaves are falling, and as unpopular an opinion as it is, us vampire-like pale people can finally exit the house without melting/sparkling like a Cullen/setting on fire... And weirdly, dressing is just so much easier when it's colder. Now, before you all go calling me crazy for wishing the cold on you all, I have a list in defence of my reasoning, so without further ado...
- It's finally the time of year where you can cover your legs (*cough* stop shaving *cough*)
- Autumnal colours that suit my skin tone are now acceptable
- Fresh/cold air greets us in the mornings
- Copious cups of tea (need I say more)
- Cosying up with blankets and netflix and calling it a social life is a thing
- Beautiful textures such as velvet and knitwear can be rummaged out from the back of the closet
and of course
- Halloween.

But let's go back to one of my first points. Autumn dressing. First of all - black, everybody's favourite wardrobe staple shade makes its return for a good, solid 5 months meaning less thought required when conjuring up your morning outfits. Second of all, auburn, brown, beige, teal, khaki and burgundy - is anyone else not just completely obsessed with that entire colour palette? And third of all - the comfort of throwing on a pair of cosy trousers in knitted fabrics, velvets, and wools and still looking super chic. Case closed.

Simple Pairings

Sometimes, overcomplicating isn't the way to go, and a classic black style with a neutral pairing is a winner when it comes to the go-to outfit for any occasion. The week before payday is never fun when it comes to your wardrobe, which is where simple black garments in interesting textures and fabrics become your best friend and simple nude accessories that go with everything even more so.

The season of layering

It's that time again. Gone are the days of only a light jacket *just in case*, and present are those where at least 3 layers is essential. I recently had the pleasure of hearing about this seasons Eileen Fisher collection with her team and had the best time learning about the concept, the history, and the styling ideas behind A/W15 - which has definitely creeped it's way into my own wardrobe now the season is in.
So, what is Eileen Fisher inspired by you may ask? Well, Eileen Fisher of course. Her style is the simple, throw-on, minimalistic look with a tailored, chic element to it - probably one of the most accessible and desirable styles of the A/W season, and every season is modernised with a new styling twist. This season, it's all about long layers over longer layers in cashmeres, merinos and silks (for a less lazy feel, of course), knits on knits and knits layered with silks, as well as long culottes grazing ankle boots. It's a big, big yes for me - so go ahead, throw on your cosiest knits over those longline camis and basque in the wonderfulness that is warmth!

Suede meets Leather

The suede dress - the most flattering of them all. Who knew? As soon as I put this dress on I had an instantly cinched waist and an added layer of warmth - a perfect combination for A/W style. In fact it's so special, it doesn't really need any styling as it's straight away the star of the show - making a piece like this with an A-line shape an investment every time.

zara co ord

Print clashing at first sounds like a daunting thing to try, but add some carelessness and a safe bet print pairing - you have a winner. Mismatching stripes makes for an easy take on the trend whilst still giving a kind of 'out-there' vibe. Who said winter fashion had to be so dreary?

LFW SS16: Trends and Favourites

As a LFW regular, it would be rude not to share my favourites from the season (continuing on from my previous NYFW report) - especially with the ever-so-eclectic talent that us Londoners in the Fashion world are ever-so-proud of. London Fashion is a completely different ball game to any other and has a creativity that is a force to be reckoned with. Where other countries stick to the tried and tested classic and minimal aesthetics and craftsmanship, London shocks every time with it's tongue-and-cheek sense of humour and nonchalantness to outlandishness. Check out my faves from this season...
