The Single Girl's Guide to The Cliche 'New Year, New Me'

It's that time of year again for your generic basic bitch 'New Year, New Me' facebook statuses that you're bound to roll your eyes at and then write a status complaining about said 'New Year, New Me' facebook statuses. Let's face it, by February we've all forgotten what we said we would do and decided to jump on the lent bandwagon in an attempt to regain that bit of enthusiasm towards making a change in your life - and that never lasts very long either (have you ever met somebody who successfully gave up chocolate or alcohol for lent? Nope, me neither).
It usually starts with 'get a boyfriend' and 'join the gym so I can get hot to get a boyfriend', but really ladies, you should be applauding yourself for being that fabulous independent wo-man that gets to see the new year in as freshly as possible.

New Years Eve: The Roll Neck and Pencil Skirt

New years eve outfit idea fashion blog

Who said New Years Eve had to be super glam? I'm a dress it down kind of girl, so for me it's about adding statement pieces to a simple look - such as these amazing Dior perspex heel dupes from Ego. Being comfortable but smart is basically my getting-dressed-motto and NYE is no exception. Pencil skirts a la Kim Kardashian are perfect for going the full day - be it lunch, dinner, to straight to the bar. Paired with a roll neck you'll be chic all day and warm all night!

The Last Minute Christmas Gift Guide

Last minute Christmas gift guide Mark Hill

If you're anything like me, this year you'll have left your gift buying until the very last minute and have no idea what to buy anyone - which is why I decided to come up with the 'last minute Christmas gift guide' in support of my fellow forgetful humans!
There are a few things you can never go wrong with, and accessories are always a winner. One of my current favourite accessories brands that i've found have something for every woman/girl is Daisy Dixon. They're stocked on ASOS and have the best watches, so for the girl with expensive taste who you have a little bit of a lower budget in mind for, they have some amazing designer dupes online and at ASOS, too! On the topic of brands who have something for everyone, Mark Hill recently re-branded and re-launched tons of products along with some new ones including a Trend Led and Salon Professional collection and as well as being completely Instagram worthy, they're amazing too!

how to wear leather jacket fashion blog

We all have those essentials in our wardrobes to get us through the winter, and one of mine is the leather jacket. Look Fantastic #LFBeautyBox Christmas Edition | December 2015

I'm ending the year with a beauty bang with the final #LFBEAUTYBOX of 2015 - and it's sure packed with some of this years favourite products. From the Black Friday box we have the Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser again, and thank the heavens because it's a product I have since fallen in love with - leaving skin brighter and softer. And of course, I would never complain at a glitter eyeliner! Lord & Berry is actually a brand I discovered through the #LFBEAUTYBOX's so i'm super excited to add the eyeliner to my ever-growing collection of their products.
Another favourite product I was more than happy to see in there was the WetBrush. Most opt for the TangleTeezer, but for me the WetBrush wins every time. I have quite damaged hair from bleaching over the years and along with that it's super thick and there is so much of it, so i've found this to work much better in the painless de-tangling department in comparison... Other fab bits in the box include a lovely little Molton Brown body wash, a Codage Radiance and Energy serum and your NYE must haves - the Eylure Naturalites!

So, there you have it guys. The final #LFBEAUTYBOX of 2015 *insert crying emoji here*. What do you guys think of the final box? Will you be adding a cheeky subscription to your list to Santa? I know I will!

Neutral Layering

how to layer winter

Layering. Everyone's favourite part of winter, because let's face it as much as we all wanna look stylish as hell, no one enjoys shivering in their tortoise heeled boots on their long commute to the office. Longer lengths over culottes are this season's go-to lazy girl look, and if you can do it in suedes and leathers then all the better! Just throw on a chic coat for a smart touch and voila, warm, cozy and bang on-trend.

Shake your Tailfeather

Cracking out the tassels like the true SeƱorita that you are seems to be the trend this season, and the minute I laid my eyes on this Whistles skirt I fell. in. love. The thing about Whistles is everything is designed with easy wearing in mind, and this skirt (be it as tassel-tastic as it is) is surprisingly easy to wear. Want to jazz it up a little for the office? Do it! Heading to a bar for some food and a catch up? It's got your back! Night on the town? You got it! Pair tassels with a blazer for some extra sassy-sass.
This blazer is from F&F and I kid you not, my best quality (and best priced) pieces are all F&F! I occasionally check their site when I grow tired of my usual go-to shopping websites and every time I find myself an amazing bargain that I can't get enough of, and this jacket is that piece this season!

Black Friday with Boohoo

boohoo black friday

Black Friday is looming and to get you all ready, I styled up an all black outfit with Boohoo.com in preparation for some sale madness! For my all black outfit I went with a bit of lazy tailoring, pairing some tailored flares (a slight nod to the 70s trend) with an oversized shirt half tucked half not (because who needs to decide when you can have the best of both worlds?)
Make sure you sign up to Boohoo's newsletter at the bottom of their homepage at Boohoo.com to make sure you don't miss out the Black Friday madness!

The Suede Trench

suede trench coat

Do you ever create your ideal garment in your head before even knowing it exists and then you just have to have it? That's exactly what happened with this trench. Upon wearing the rest of this outfit to work one day, I immediately knew what was missing - a burgundy suede trench - and voila, Rare London just so happened to have exactly what I was looking for *insert hallelujah emoji here*.
A good trench coat is a wardrobe must all year round, particularly in the UK, so shaking it up with a new fabric definitely never hurt nobody, in fact, can I just take every colour please?

Mercury

how to wear glitter trousers

If you're going to dress it down, you may as well do it the right way - take these glitter/metallic trousers for example. Tailored, sparkly, but subtle enough to team with a cozy knit without looking too Freddy Mercury for the daytime. And you can probably guess i'm really feeling the split sleeve knits from H&M this season, but there's just something about the little knitwear update that I can't resist!

Shades of Grey

knitted co-ord

The knitted co-ord: most definitely the most desirable co-ord of this season with the high street offering up everything from chunky sweats, knitted tshirts, cable knit flares to merino pencil skirts.. What a time to be alive! I remember seeing those hugely oversized knitted trousers paired with a matching (also extremely oversized) jumper parade down the runway at The Row's A/W14 show and I actually thought it was a little crazy - 'how would that even work? the knit will definitely go baggy? isn't knitwear on the bottom half just hugely impractical?' were my exact thoughts upon seeing them... And despite each of these questions, here we are today fully embracing the wonders that is the knitted co-ord - including myself. Being a lazy Brit who as much as she loves the winter hates the cold, cozying up is a must and plodding around in layers worthy of climbing Mount Everest is a huge no-no - so for me, the thought of knitting myself into a giant cashmere ball and still being on trend is the best feeling ever. Praise the Olsens.

Look Fantastic November 2015 Beauty Box #LFBEAUTYBOX

look fantastic november beauty box 2015

The closer we get to Christmas, the better the #LFBEAUTYBOX gets, and this month is my all-time fave. It might have something to do with the fact that i'm a total lipstick addict and they just so happen to have thrown one in there this time around, but it could also do with the fact that every single product in there is just as fabulous as the other. The thing about pre-packed surprises is that there's never a complete guarantee that you'll like every item in there, but Look Fantastic seem to have a 'What a girl wants' genius behind their Beauty Boxes that hits the spot every month. This month features a universal shade of red lipstick, a lip and cheek tint, and a hair mask - along with a few other extremely useable products for the coming month. Get your box here!

Dual Ponyskin

glitter jumper

Glitter knits and faux animal skin textures - a match made in fashion cupid's heaven... Who would have known it? There was a time, not too many years ago where the thought of sparkle would have made me sick to my stomach, but this year's sparkle reworked has a hold on me, and we probably have Christopher Kane and Saint Laurent to thank for that... But more than anyone else, we should thank H&M for gracing us with this Christopher Kane dupe - with the slight addition of the split sleeve which is to diiiiiie for! Bravo, H&M, bravo!

#MakeYourMark Mark Hill launch event

mark hill hair products

A few weeks ago, I had the absolute pleasure of heading to the outstanding W Hotel on Leicester Square with the girls and meeting the even more outstanding Mark Hill at his event to celebrate the launch of his new collection of hair products (recently launched in Boots) - and with his own hair being as impeccable as it is, it's hard not to trust and love his products.
From products to give your hair the perfect wave, the right amount of bounce, or the sleekest blow-dry in town (my personal faves? The Volume Spray Mousse, Perfecting Blow Dry spray and Wave texture spray), Mark's latest collection has you covered - and they make perfect Christmas gifts, what more could you ask for? Here's a cheeky, sneaky peek of his latest range...

White Hot

how to wear white trousers

Wearing any kind of white after September is risking, never mind a double helping of the shade in November, but there's something just so chic about wearing white that makes it hard to avoid - especially in the winter when it looks far less 'I summer in the Hamptons'. Throw on a big chunky white knit for an instant cool-girl-keeping-warm vibe.

Rare London LFW Dinner @ The Charlotte Street Hotel

charlotte street hotel review

LFW is well and truly over for 2015, but to send the season out on a high note, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Rare London event and treated to an amazing meal and the fabulous company of Sophie, Charlotte, Sarah and Sophie. On entering The Charlotte Street hotel I immediately had Insta-fever - the place is so boutique and pretty, with outside being painted Duck Egg and the interiors having a decadent, British touch - not to mention our ever 'Instagrammable' table for the night (what more could a blogger want?!)
I'm usually a fairly fussy eater, but in this kind of place it was so hard to be, knowing that whatever landed on my table in front of me was going to be delicious - so for starters I opted for the tomato and mozzarella with balsamic sauce, followed by the steak as a main. I was actually previous to this a steak virgin being a vegetarian most of my life until recent years, but I have to say for a first ever steak (which I had plain as i'm allergic to bearnaise sauce) it was delicious
Thank you so much to Rare London and Label PR for a great night!

The Robe Coat

H&M coat

Made famous by the likes of Max Mara and Celine, the robe coat is each year the most desirable and luckily, each year, the most copied on the high street - and thank the heavens for H&M! I picked this one up for less than £25 during H&M's student discount week with Myunidays and it's quickly pawed it's way to becoming my favourite coat in my collection. Hooray for bargains!
And the glitter boots... The perfect way to jazz up the most boring of outfits with one simple touch. You couldn't get more 70s, and thanks to Hedi Slimane these glam rock inspired babies are around the high street today, gracing my shoe cupboard just like they were destined to. It was love at first sight - right there in ASOS's press showroom.

The Witching Hour

October is one of my favourite months of the year. The leaves are falling, and as unpopular an opinion as it is, us vampire-like pale people can finally exit the house without melting/sparkling like a Cullen/setting on fire... And weirdly, dressing is just so much easier when it's colder. Now, before you all go calling me crazy for wishing the cold on you all, I have a list in defence of my reasoning, so without further ado...
- It's finally the time of year where you can cover your legs (*cough* stop shaving *cough*)
- Autumnal colours that suit my skin tone are now acceptable
- Fresh/cold air greets us in the mornings
- Copious cups of tea (need I say more)
- Cosying up with blankets and netflix and calling it a social life is a thing
- Beautiful textures such as velvet and knitwear can be rummaged out from the back of the closet
and of course
- Halloween.

But let's go back to one of my first points. Autumn dressing. First of all - black, everybody's favourite wardrobe staple shade makes its return for a good, solid 5 months meaning less thought required when conjuring up your morning outfits. Second of all, auburn, brown, beige, teal, khaki and burgundy - is anyone else not just completely obsessed with that entire colour palette? And third of all - the comfort of throwing on a pair of cosy trousers in knitted fabrics, velvets, and wools and still looking super chic. Case closed.

Simple Pairings

Sometimes, overcomplicating isn't the way to go, and a classic black style with a neutral pairing is a winner when it comes to the go-to outfit for any occasion. The week before payday is never fun when it comes to your wardrobe, which is where simple black garments in interesting textures and fabrics become your best friend and simple nude accessories that go with everything even more so.

The season of layering

It's that time again. Gone are the days of only a light jacket *just in case*, and present are those where at least 3 layers is essential. I recently had the pleasure of hearing about this seasons Eileen Fisher collection with her team and had the best time learning about the concept, the history, and the styling ideas behind A/W15 - which has definitely creeped it's way into my own wardrobe now the season is in.
So, what is Eileen Fisher inspired by you may ask? Well, Eileen Fisher of course. Her style is the simple, throw-on, minimalistic look with a tailored, chic element to it - probably one of the most accessible and desirable styles of the A/W season, and every season is modernised with a new styling twist. This season, it's all about long layers over longer layers in cashmeres, merinos and silks (for a less lazy feel, of course), knits on knits and knits layered with silks, as well as long culottes grazing ankle boots. It's a big, big yes for me - so go ahead, throw on your cosiest knits over those longline camis and basque in the wonderfulness that is warmth!

Suede meets Leather

The suede dress - the most flattering of them all. Who knew? As soon as I put this dress on I had an instantly cinched waist and an added layer of warmth - a perfect combination for A/W style. In fact it's so special, it doesn't really need any styling as it's straight away the star of the show - making a piece like this with an A-line shape an investment every time.

Parallels

zara co ord

Print clashing at first sounds like a daunting thing to try, but add some carelessness and a safe bet print pairing - you have a winner. Mismatching stripes makes for an easy take on the trend whilst still giving a kind of 'out-there' vibe. Who said winter fashion had to be so dreary?

LFW SS16: Trends and Favourites

As a LFW regular, it would be rude not to share my favourites from the season (continuing on from my previous NYFW report) - especially with the ever-so-eclectic talent that us Londoners in the Fashion world are ever-so-proud of. London Fashion is a completely different ball game to any other and has a creativity that is a force to be reckoned with. Where other countries stick to the tried and tested classic and minimal aesthetics and craftsmanship, London shocks every time with it's tongue-and-cheek sense of humour and nonchalantness to outlandishness. Check out my faves from this season...

Suit of the Season

asos suit

If you were to ask me to send you in the direction of the suit of the season, my finger would be swiftly pointed towards ASOS. Have I ever worn a better fitted suit in the quality of this one? Nope. It was love at first co-ordinated sight. Want to make the business-looking pairing bang up to date? Add a skinny scarf for an instant injection of Bianca Jagger.

London Fashion Week Day 3 Outfit

london fashion week street style ss16

Although Day 3 was the only day I managed to go to this year due to work commitments, but it definitely didn't lack on the busy side - from workshops with Boohoo at The Apartment and Fashion films with River Island.  Me and the girls also got to see the new host of LFW when heading to the River Island preview, and in my opinion it's all a little strange, especially after so many amazing years at Somerset House... Not to mention the feeling of being stylish herded livestock whilst queueing for shows (which is never a good look)...

Adorned in Zara

Pale neutrals. The kind of shades that you steer clear of because generally, you can't see past that late morning sea of beige crowding your bus when the elderly go about their day in their matching beige macs - and I don't blame you, we've all been there and we've all had the association, but that doesn't mean that the tones should be feared. There's something about a paler pairing for me and steering clear of darker tones that is quite refreshing to see, and the right fabric combo's bring the look bang up to date - taking this chunky knit and leather combo as an example and pairing with a darker camel for added depth.

NYFW SS16: Trends and Favourites

Fashion month is well underway, with London currently playing host to the seasonal show and coming to it's end until February tomorrow - but not before Paris and Milan show us what they have in store for next season. Although a native Brit, my heart lies in NYFW when it comes to the upcoming trends, and this year was no exception. Take a look at my faves for NYFW SS16.

Black Out

It's that time again... For some people, the all black ensemble is an all-year-round thing, but for most we just like to re-introduce the colour in the colder months (basically the ones we're least likely to melt whilst wearing it). The piece I missed most of all from my winter black wardrobe was this pair of sheer wide leg trousers from Primark I picked up last Summer for an event and loved them ever since, the perfect sexy-but-covered-up look and all at the Primark price tag... Bonus.

Kimono cuts and Sequins

Well, H&M, didn't you just get interesting... Just as I start to disregard the high street store as my basics shop, i'm reminded of the quality and designer-esque cuts and styles that they sometimes grace us with with garments like this jacket.
