Pink to make the boys wink

Top - Rihanna for River Island
Jeans - c/o Missguided (here)
Bag - & Other Stories
Shoes - River Island

I'm currently kind of 'without wardrobe' right now as i'm in the middle of packing my life away to move into my new flat - but the (only) good part about that is rediscovering everything at the back of my closet, like this Rihanna for River Island top that i've never actually worn before because I thought it made me look chunky, which I still do, but it's too cute to keep stuffed away and i'm trying to break my hoarder ways.

It may not seem that way, but i'm not exactly totally body confident other than my legs and only because of the amazingly hot British summer we're having have I managed to get myself to flaunt some skin - but you know what? We're not all perfect, we're not all photoshopped, and we're not all Beyonce... So I figured it was time to get over myself and stop leaving my crop tops hidden in the closet and make some use out of them, because if you act confident, no one will notice anything else.

The midi skirt for the skeptic

Top - c/o Urban Outfitters (here)
Skirt - c/o Whistles (coming soon as part of the pre-fall collection)
Bag - Celine
Shoes - Whistles (available at ASOS here)

I always admired a full midi skirt and envied those that could pull it off incredibly (*cough* Arabella *cough*) and I definitely never thought i'd see myself in one - EVER. I'm one of those girls that tends to go for the tomboy-twist.
The lovely designers at Whistles gave me this skirt, along with a few other pieces as a gift and I think they got me completely right. From my office attire it wasn't hard to see I loved to try new things but I also had a masculine edge (which is a pretty ongoing tone throughout each Whistles collection anyway), so I was super excited and flattered when I received this as a gift and I couldn't wait to style it up, and what more perfect to pair it with than the Whistles Lena slip-ons?
Before I started at Whistles, I did lots of product research so it would be easier for me to find my feet during my first weeks, and I immediately fell in love with these pony skin trainers, and ever since have been completely lusting for them and confessing my admiration to the shoe designer in a hope any samples would come up. Unfortunately they didn't, but they did miraculously get brought back to site for one day only as part of the sale and I tell you now, it was fate.

Florida Kilos

Top - c/o Urban Outfitters (here)
Shorts - Rihanna for River Island
Sunnies - Choies (here)
Boots - Missguided

In the summer, I can never understand how people can wear their tight little clothes without complaining - I mean, kudos to you lovely ladies that do because you look amazing, but me, I can't help but feel totally conscious and uncomfortable so I tend to opt for the baggy option - even though I do love to show off my body (as little as I actually do...)
I picked up this tee from the Covent Garden Urban Outfitters store with a gift card that the lovely team gave to me as a prize for winning the ASOS Fashion Finder 'Ones to Watch' category. I love a bit of mesh so when I saw this I thought it would be the perfect combo of loose yet revealing - perfecto for lazy little me!

The coping mechanism and being totally awesome after a break-up

Hat - Reiss (here)
Top - Missguided (here)
Shoes - c/o Ikrush (here)

I don't usually go into depths with my personal life, but sometimes something you're going through that's supposed to be bad is actually one of the greatest things that could have happened. I'm a 'shit happens' kind of person, some may say i'm cold and made of stone, but really i've just overcome so much that i'm a tough cookie to crack now and I know there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.
In everything in life, I like to see the good - be it a terrible situation or something that needs a bit of beauty injected into it - I guess you could call it the 'glass-half-full' take.
Anyway, you guessed it - single, back on the scene, me myself and I - but you don't need to pity me one bit, because there are a ton of reasons why this is the greatest thing for me, and even anybody like me at all that's still glazed with a lifetimes worth of dreams. So, here's why being single in your 20's might just be the best thing ever:

1) Free-dreaming.
I was in a relationship for a very significant amount of time and it was for such a long period in my life that I didn't know any different. I was never a solo person or just 'Laura', it was always 'Laura and -' - so as you can imagine, my entire life's plans were based around this and taking other people into consideration, meaning I 'settled' for things that were convenient for two people, rather than the outrageous things that I wanted to do with my future - like move abroad and climb the ranks of the Fashion world.

2) Focus - 'getting shit done'.
We all hate to even think it, never mind say it, but from my experience, you don't work as hard as you can when you have a 'other half' to think about. In my line of work, there are no days off, no nights off, and no social life - so a relationship has always been a case of balance and prioritising and most of the time it meant taking a step back from my work and settling for less-than-best. Who gets to the top with less-than-best? Nobody.

3) Adventure.
Unless you're super lucky and you've found your soulmate, chances are you have a fair few personality differences. I'm a dreamer, a go-getter, the spontaneous kind - not the kind that likes to stay in one place for long. Since becoming single i've planned trips to Thailand, Bali and South America - all on my own, because why the hell not?

4) The Carrie Bradshaw experience.
Growing up, as much as I felt sorry for Carrie being in her 30s and still hooking up and chasing that loser Big, I still craved her city life. The dating, the clothes, the social circle, being totally and utterly fabulous - it's all just too much fun to pass up!

4) 'Find yourself'.
Because i'm only 21 and i've never really been alone, i'm finally realising who I am, and I like that person.

5) No more shared finances.
... Or at least having to explain why theres a large sum of money missing because 'we could have had a nice weekend with that'.... FREEWILL TO BUY SHOES.

6) Actually having friends.
We all do it. We all abandon our friends once 'Prince Charming' comes along and we put on 3 pounds and stop shaving our legs. Don't deny it, you know you've been there.
Here's to now actually having a social life (and a few more hangovers....)

7) Learning how to make yourself happy.
Sometimes we're so used to depending on others and being with others, or being depended on by others, we forget the little things that make us happy or we don't get to learn what they are. Lately, i've started reading great novels again, going to the gym, going for really long walks and being crazy inspired with my design work and pushing 'The Fashion Wonderland'. It's the little things!

8) Surround yourself with like-minded people who inspire you.
This is definitely something i've been doing lately. I've been meeting new people who have made their own little impacts on my life and sparked my spontaneaty just that little bit more and it's all been part of a perfect recipe in figuring out who I am and becoming happy in myself.

The Zara Palazzo

Bag - c/o LYDC (here)
Top - Primark
Trousers - Zara (here)
Shoes - Missguided

Right now, I don't think there is another trend i'm really into or at least obsessed with right now like I am with palazzo trousers. Anything wide leg and casual-chic has a place in my heart, so much so that on a recent Friday afternoon at work, I left early and trotted off to Oxford Circus on an impulsive pilgrimage specifically for palazzo trousers, and along with these incredible Zara ones, I came back with a standard sheer black pair from Primark and this *dare I say it, amaaaazing* vest - I know I don't usually go in there, it reeks of slave labour and the work of Satan and I always make such a massive deal over it, but i'm on a budget until September :(
*all Harvey Nichols stores around the UK are playing the worlds smallest violin just for me*

From business, to casual

Co-ord - Missguided (here and here)
Sunnies - c/o Yesfor
Top - c/o Whistles (here)
Shoes - c/o Ikrush (here)

My life is a constant battle of outfit versatility... I have to go to work, I have a meeting, a friend wants to go for drinks, there's a press event... All of which is far too much to think about at 6am on a Monday morning. Sometimes I get a natural brainwave, especially when I get new additions in my wardrobe and pull out the perfect outfit for all of those occasions, and this is one of them. Work, a meeting, a casual stroll and an evening with a friend - all in one outfits work!

The PVC skirts summer return

Top - c/o Oasap (here)
Skirt - Missguided (here)
Bag - And Other Stories (borrowed from Annabel)
Pumps - Whistles (here)

As soon as I got this top, I knew right away what I wanted to wear it with. Everytime something pastel comes through my postbox I immediately find it as an excuse to crack out the PVC skirt. It's literally the most flattering thing I own in my wardrobe because the PVC gives the illusion of a flat tummy - which is always a winner in the eyes of a female!
My new Limited Loni pumps that I got in work's last sample sale are my current obsession - they are just too perfect (and in the sale!). I have around 6 weeks off now which gives me tons of time to finally focus on posting more. It was so sad to say goodbye to the office, but I did leave with some cheeky pre-fall treats that I can't waaaait to share with you all! The Whistles team are just the greatest!
